Jonny König is an independent drummer / composer / producer / live artist from Mannheim, Germany. He was born in 1988 in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
Jonny feels equally comfortable in pop/rock music and experimental music. As a solo artist he merges drums and effect-pedals into a diverse sound-machine. The
‚Drums&Percussion'-magazine hails his work as a "sound-experience" - „award-worthy“ and „fascinating“ in 2021.
In 2020, „lockdown“-experimentations in the studio resulted in the creation of Jonny’s first instrumental solo album: ‚DEEP SPACE TRANSPORT‘.
A soundscape of intricate rhythms, abstract drum sounds and cinematic depth that recalls associations of dystopian science-fiction. The immersive pieces combine vibrating tension and deceptive
calm.
As a solo-artist, Jonny is a scholarship holder for „Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg“ in 2021.
Jonny is best known for his entertaining virtuoso piece „Stoiber On Drums“. The video of his performance went viral in 2013 and Jonny attracted nationwide attention of the media
- highlighted by an appearance in germany’s biggest latenight-show „TV Total“ and appreciations from the nation's most prestigious newspapers (F.A.Z., Süddeutsche,
Welt,…).
From 2013 to 2017 Jonny was the drummer for one of germany’s most famous pop-acts - „SÖHNE MANNHEIMS“. He toured arenas and released several albums with the band.
Jonny is sharing a studio with composer and long-time friend David König under the label of "TONKÖNIG". Together they designed a sound-installation at BUGA23 in
Mannheim and composed soundtracks for plenty of professional corporate videoclips (2012-today).
Jonny graduated with a bachelor degree in „Popmusikdesign“ from Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2013 after receiving several scholarships for his creative work during his studies.
